One of the main functions of a Router is to direct internet traffic to the right place. In order to do this, the Router will try to connect two or more networks together by determining whether or not the source and destination are on the same network.
If they’re not, the router will transfer the data across. This is made possible by using information in its routing table or the routing policy. All IT professionals will be aware of and use routers within their working lives.
