COBIT is a piece of software that links business goals to IT goals, providing
metrics models that measure achievement and help to identify the associated
responsibilities of business and IT process owners.
The process subdivides into four domains; Plan and Organise, Acquire and Implement, Deliver and Support and Monitor and Evaluate. Other components include processing descriptions, controlling objectives and managing guidelines.
When utilised appropriately, the COBIT system can contribute to ensuring regulatory compliance. It encourages structured information management, improves retention schedules, increases business agility and lowers costs while continuing to comply with data retention and management regulations. It’s useful for anyone working in IT management, or anyone wishing to work in the field, to familiarise themselves with this software.
