Video Production Engineer

Reporting into: IT Group Programme Manager

The role will focus strongly on Editing, Pre/Post Production, Video Recording, Graphics and Instructional Design.

Duties of this role:

-Ability to create and edit videos, with superior technique and strong storytelling ability
-Advise academic units on best practice in online learning and create custom learning resources where necessary.
-Identifying areas for innovation and improvement from engagement and feedback from stakeholders.
-Ability to manage shooting and post-production work of video programs.
-Acting as a subject matter expert in the area of technology enhanced learning using videos/ graphics.
-A versatile visualizer who is skillful at both creating and editing content.
-Prepping studio/location site for video shoot. This involves setting up cameras, lighting and audio. This includes script supervision during recording.
-Keeping up-to-date with technology and platform developments to seek and identify possible improvements to the online learning experience for students and clients.
-Import and organize footage. Expert video editing skills as well as motion graphics premier pro or after effects.
-Perform all production tasks, including filming, lighting and capturing audio.
-Confident problem-solver who is calm under pressure and is able to identify the grey areas in post-production and proactively find appropriate solutions.
-Supporting the Learning Technology team in developing the learning technology strategy in line with the broader business plans.
-Translating needs as expressed by non-expert staff in the business into technical and educational requirements and design solutions to meet these.
-Designing and delivering structured and planned training appropriate to the need and audience.
-Prepared to attend offices in the greater Dublin region for prolonged periods of time, and on occasion at international locations should the Project require physical attendance at workshops and project meetings.
-Communicating technical and educational concepts effectively to all levels of the organisation and across a range of technical and /or educational experience.

Skills/Experience:

-Educated to degree level or equivalent experience gained in a relevant working environment.
-Must be proficient in Panopto, LMS, Adobe Premier, Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Studio Suite, After Effects, and Photoshop.
-Very strong pre/post video production skills.
-Thrives in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
-Familiarity with a standard production processes and methods (e.g. storyboards, asset production, etc.).
-Provides general sound design and colour correction.
-An appreciation and understanding of design aesthetics. Knows how to make a video or graphic look good (clean, modern, easy to understand)
-Experience of working in project teams, including planning and tracking work packages.
-Experience with green screen production.
-Ability to become sufficiently familiar with the company Moodle site to host, share, and manage access to course content.
-Understanding of instructional design methods.
-Awareness of usability issues and best practice.
-Familiarity with common standards and formats (e.g. HTML, SCORM, etc.).
-Familiarity with authoring tools such as Camtasia, Captivate or Articulate is a plus.
-Excellent writing skills.
-Technologically adaptable.

Advantageous Skills/Experience:

-Some project management experience evidenced by an ability to manage own work and deliveries and an awareness of risk management.
-Experience in an established e-Learning / education provider or in an appropriate dedicated function (e.g. an e-learning team).

-Working knowledge of LMS (e.g. Moodle, Blackboard and etc.) for course administration (e.g. course creation / management and user management) and for the delivery of online learning (with Moodle as the primary tool e.g. activity creation, structured collaborative learning, etc.).
