Job Description

Dublin City Centre Financial Services client requires a VB/VBA Developer for a 6 month contract with a good understanding of Agile Methodologies.

Job Responsibilities

  • We have a vacancy for a Software developer with Visual Basic and Visual Basic for applications to work within the Software Development team within IT Department, to assist with the remediation work on legacy applications.
  • We are looking for a talented individual who can quickly become productive within our highly complex technical environment.
  • The ideal candidate will have proven experience developing VB/VBA applications, a track record of high quality delivery, combined with a keen appetite for all aspects of software development.
  • The role will be to assist with the maintenance and support of existing legacy applications to make the functional within a Windows 10 and Office 365 environment. Depending on the particular project, development tasks will have a mixture of business and technical deliverables.
  • All development will require a high degree of co-operation with other team areas within the IT unit, In particular the individual will work closely with senior software developers and architects to ensure compliance with standards & conventions, and co-operate with business analysts to understand the business requirements for systems being delivered

Experience Required

  • 5+ years Visual Basic/Visual Basic For Applications
  • Good working knowledge of Crystal Reports
  • Sound knowledge of software engineering principles and theory
  • Knowledge and experience MS Word templates and macros
  • Understanding of Agile Methodologies such as Scrum
  • Source Control tools
  • Team player
  • Good communications skills Written and verbal
  • Previous experience in the Insurance /Financial Services Sector

Essential and Desirable Skills

  • Experience using JIRA
  • German Language – Verbal and Written
  • Previous experience in the Financial Services Industry

Educational Requirements

  • University degree or diploma in related field or equivalent professional training and experience
