Job Description

My Dublin based client is looking for an experienced Test Lead with 4+ years of experience to lead their IST team.


Main Duties:

  • Responsible for IST testing phases and the management of IST testing activities for a specified scope, defined in terms of projects / change types
  • Collaborate with UAT / MOT Leads to develop and communicate testing strategies to include the entry / exit criteria, scope of testing, number of test phases, management of test environments / test data, test metrics and reporting arrangements etc
  • Take a leadership role in the QA of Business Intelligence related change, participating in the development of testing approaches and BI project reporting
  • Manage IST resource capacity, identifying and balancing upcoming demand versus supply considerations, scheduling suitable resources, identifying innovative solutions where challenges arise and raising escalations as appropriate
  • Responsible for ensuring the production of all IST testing deliverables and achievement of IST testing milestones
  • Co-ordinate all activities and all testers during each IST testing phase of a project or programme, providing daily operational leadership to the team including work assignment and tracking.
  • Triage issues to remove barriers and enable IST progress to be maintained
  • Ensure that any risks associated with the agreed test strategy and the system test plan are clearly documented and described and manage all such risks, taking preventative action where required
  • Provide authoritative advice and guidance to colleagues on any aspect of testing, including mentoring and day-to-day support on queries regarding direction and approach
  • Develop fit-for-purpose reporting mechanisms and provide updates to the Project / Delivery Managers
  • Identify strategies that focus on continuous review and improvement of the testing capabilities of the team.
  • Management of entry & exit for all relevant test phases
  • Represent the IST Team at Change Approval Boards prior to production deployment
  • Provide leadership for the design, development and implementation of test automation for functional, regression and integration testing purposes
  • Provide leadership for the design, development and implementation of performance testing
  • Perform all of the normal human resource duties associated with managing a team of 5 – 8 Test Analysts including objectives setting, performance management, training & development and recruitment as required

The Test Lead should have:

  • 5 years + experience working in software testing, including experience writing test strategies, test cases, and detailed test scripts. This must include at least 3 years working in a test leadership role
  • ISTQB Foundation Level (or equivalent) as a minimum
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of the development lifecycle, testing quality assurance processes, standards, methodologies and tools
  • Experience in motivating and managing a team of test analysts and reporting on their activities and progress
  • Experience of participating in the definition of automated and performance testing frameworks
  • Experience with both Waterfall and Agile methodologies
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines, with a drive and commitment to delivery
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and workloads
