Job Description

My Dublin based client is looking for an experienced Telecoms Project Manager to join their team for a 12 month contract.

My Dublin based clients Telecoms function ensures the required telecommunications services are in place to support power system operation, market operation and general business activities on a 24 x 7 basis.  In addition to meeting current operational demands, solutions are required for changing business needs including power system growth, increased levels of renewable energy, smart-grid deployment, communications technology evolution and replacement of obsolescent services and equipment.

Telecoms Function – Key Areas

Telecoms Solutions Design/Delivery

  • This involves the analysis of business needs, investigation of feasible solutions, specification development, planning, co-ordination of approvals, stakeholder communications and the overall project management of the delivery process.

Telecoms Vendor Management

  • This involves identifying suitable service providers, running procurement processes, establishing / managing service level agreements and ensuring value for money.

Telecoms Operations Management

  • This involves overseeing telecoms services, ensuring high availability targets are achieved, liaising with business users, co-ordinating with change management and service delivery processes, incident/problem management and reporting on service quality.

Role Requirements

The main focus of the role is in the Telecoms Solutions Design/Delivery area and involves the key activities outlined for that area.  However the role may also involve some duties in the Telecoms Vendor Management and Telecoms Operations Management areas.


            Job Relationships:


This position reports to the Networks and Telecoms team lead and any project boards as required to conduct this role.


            Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates shall have a solid technical background, a degree in Telecommunication, Engineering or Information Technology and 5+ years of experience in the electricity industry, telecoms industry or utility sector.

Additionally, the following are highly desirable:

  • demonstrated success in delivering complex technical projects, preferably with PRINCE2 methodology
  • management of a 24/7 operational environment
  • understanding of power system or industrial control systems
  • excellent external and internal communication skills, both written and verbal
  • financial management skills
