My Dublin-based client has a brand new opportunity for a Solutions Architect (Big Data & Cloud) to join their expanding team on a permanent basis.

My Dublin-based client has a brand-new opportunity for a Solutions Architect to join their expanding team on a permanent basis. You will be joining an international organisation with an excellent reputation in the Irish market. This is a newly created role that allows an experienced Solutions Architect to take the lead on exciting and innovative Cloud & Big Data projects.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall strategy, design, and adoption of large-scale Big Data and Cloud initiatives
  • Understand current requirements and pain points in order to propose appropriate cloud-based architecture for implementation
  • Identify and solve design problems of moderate to complex cloud implementation, should independently plan and design solutions, involving potentially conflicting design requirements
  • Plan and design innovative solutions to conflicting requirements and design problems
  • Review current architecture patterns and system performance to suggest cost-effective solutions
  • Collaborate with various teams across the business (Product, Infrastructure, etc.)
  • Educate others on design principles and best practices

Experience Required

  • 10+ years’ experience across Software Development and Big Data Architecture
  • Expertise in designing, implementing, and optimizing large-scale data architecture and big data technologies, especially Spark and Hadoop
  • Must have a software engineering background in either Java or Scala
  • Experience architecting data solutions in a cloud environment (AWS or GCP)
  • Recent experience working on big data implementation projects across multiple regions

Essential and Desirable Skills

  • Programming skills – Java and/or Scala
  • Big Data technologies – Spark and Hadoop
  • Cloud solutions – AWS and/or GCP

Educational Requirements

  • Third level degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or another related field
