Job Description

My client is based in the Mid West region of Ireland and they are recruiting for a Software Engineering Manager. This role is on a permanent basis.

Overview

  • Software functional including core capabilities, software quality, software processes, resource development and utilization, and technology roadmap
  • Define the engineering capabilities required to meet new product development and sustaining objectives
  • Influence the continuous improvement of the software development process to ensure quality, robust software development work product via metrics and software processes
  • Ensure the application of best practice software engineering methods to produce robust software designs
  • Lead or participate in design reviews.
  • Strategic planning for system/software architecture across the product line.
  • Interact closely with mechanical, systems, and electrical engineering teams to develop comprehensive solutions.

Knowledge / Skills Required

  • Experience with Microsoft Developer’s Studio, C#/.NET
  • Excellent understanding of network protocols, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Microsoft software tools for development, including cloud development
  • Good understanding and usage of Microsoft Project
  • Good experience with Software Configuration Management tools (source code control, defect tracking, continuous integration build tools)
  • Strong Leadership and Management skills

Education

  • Requires a BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related Engineering discipline

 Experience Required

  • Minimum of ten years of experience in software development, instrumented systems and architecture concepts and designs
  • Minimum of five years leading engineering product development teams
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Windows development environment
  • Minimum of two years of Agile/Scrum development practices Minimum of two years of work experience in a regulated environment
