Software Engineer – Moving into DevOps

My Dublin-based client has a brand-new opportunity for a Software Engineer who wants to move into a DevOps role.

My client is an award-winning software company that has an excellent reputation in the Irish market. They pride themselves on their challenging projects, internal promotion opportunities, as well as their excellent work-life balance.

This is a great opportunity for a developer who wants to move away from day-to-day coding and move into a DevOps role, focusing on cloud infrastructure and DevOps pipeline automation.

Candidates must have previous experience in software engineering and cloud computing. DevOps experience is not essential but you must have worked in a team that practices DevOps automation and have a basic understanding of DevOps concepts.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain innovative DevOps solutions within an Azure environment.
• Ensure the cloud environment is fit for purpose, backed up, and cost-effective.
• Identify, document, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues and vulnerabilities.
• Build tools to reduce errors and improve system performance.
• Provide cloud support to users, responding to incidents quickly and in a professional manner.
• Review existing systems to find ways of automating and improving these systems.
• Educate users on the benefits of cloud computing and new technologies.

Experience Required

• 2+ years- experience in software engineering
• Strong knowledge of cloud computing
• Must have worked in a team that practices DevOps automation
• Hands-on experience with DevOps pipelines is not essential

Essential and Desirable Skills

• Solid programming skills in any language, but preferably in the .NET framework (C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET)
• Strong knowledge in cloud computing
• Ability to think and resolve technical issues as a developer
• Basic understanding of DevOps concepts
• Knowledge of Azure technologies would be a bonus

Educational Requirements

• Third level qualification in Computer Science, or another related field
• Any relevant certifications would be a bonus (e.g. Azure Administrator Associate / Azure DevOps Engineer Expert)
