Software Developer – GIS

Job Responsibilities

• Use your skills to create and maintain a system used in the validation of payments and grants on an international level.
• Carry out a specific mould of work to write code for a process, using Jira based project management.
• Render spatial data and analyse results as required.
• Attend regular meetings about the work and have several inputs and outputs through colleagues.
• Be part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes client-facing colleagues.
• Program on the .Net platform and also in Java and Python

Experience Required

• Circa 3+ years’ experience as a Software Developer or technical GIS Analyst
• Experience utilising spatial data to solve business problems
• Strong programming experience (Python, R, JavaScript, etc)
• Strong knowledge of SQL (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Familiar with DevOps tools (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Git etc)
• Experience in cloud computing platforms (Azure, AWS)

Essential and Desirable Skills

• Experience in working with GIS or geo-mapping would be ideal
• Knowledge of machine learning libraries and implementations is a bonus
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced development schedule
• Strong communication skills and fluency in verbal and written English are essential

Educational Requirements

• Third level or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) or equivalent
