Senior Firmware Design Engineer

My Dublin based client is recruiting for a  Senior Firmware Design Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis. This role will be working off a hybrid model. The Senior Firmware Design Engineer will work within the R&D department and will work on a diverse range of innovative products.

Job Responsibilities

• You will work in an Agile development environment
• You will participate in design, implementation, testing & optimization of features on all products in the portfolio
• You will review & refactor code, fix issues, collaborate with product & application engineering teams to help improve the complete system
• You will create & maintain technical documentation for developed software modules & features
• Firmware development for product manufacturing test (e.g. test fixtures, PC level test, test procedures etc.) in order to ensure optimal cost & quality of products supplied by EMS manufacturers
• You will do approvals & Compliance – Ensuring firmware modules designed to comply with relevant standards

Experience Required

• A minimum of 5 years’ work experience in firmware development
• RTOS experience
• Experience with JTAG debugging
• SCRUM methodology
• Strong understanding of the Continuous Integration pipeline model and the importance of automation in this

Essential and Desirable Skills

• Have experience working with automation tools: SVN, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, & Git
• High speed data communication and experience with communication protocols, TCP/IP, RS232, RS485
• Have expert skills in “C” and “C++” firmware development
• Have expert skills in development for Linux
• Have expert skills in Buildroot and Yocto
• Clear & concise documentation skills
• Comfortable working with a team in an Agile environment (Scrum)

Educational Requirements

• Degree in Electronic Engineering or related discipline
