Job Description

Senior Business Analyst required for a permanent role with a Dublin City Centre based client.

Background to the role:

The Business Analyst will develop and document the business requirements, as well as functional requirements. They will also have to develop good working relationships with all stakeholders, including senior business stakeholders, SME’s, development teams, project managers and relevant 3rd party suppliers. They need to be able to understand the impact of a proposed change on business processes, on customers and on a commercial basis. They will be required to assist in the development of business cases for IT steering, and will have to refine the proposals being put forward to the business development forum.

Essential duties and responsibilities for this position include:

  • Contribute to the entire development life cycle from initial requirements phase to deployment, implementation and production support
  • Sit with SME’s and other business users to understand the current process, and document these in a clear, concise manner
  • Engage with SME’s and senior business representatives to establish and record problem statements
  • Work with SME’s, senior business representatives, development team, project managers and relevant 3rdparties to propose and record solutions to the problem statements
  • Question pre-conceived ideas on requirements to ensure the best possible solution and/or all gaps are identified
  • Work with the development team, project managers, and relevant 3rdparties to establish the cost of such solutions
  • Work with SME’s and senior business representatives to articulate and record the benefits of those solutions
  • Work with SME’s, development team, test team to produce functional requirements, and ensure that these are agreed, with a focus on the impact on current processes and procedures
  • Write and assess the impact of change requests for inflight projects
  • Support system testing, and support developer queries
  • Support user acceptance testing, ensuring that there is a focus on both the original requirements and benefits

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant Degree/3rdlevel qualification.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Takes personal responsibility for accuracy and quality.
  • Flexibility and experience of managing changing priorities effectively.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to quickly learn new functional areas
  • Interest and curiosity in learning new systems and skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong customer focus
  • Influencing and networking skills

Desirable Requirements:

  • Understanding of the software development life cycle, and different software development methodologies
  • IT and/or project management qualification.
  • A sound knowledge of financial services sector.
  • QFA qualified or working towards full accreditation
