Job Description

My well-known international client is recruiting a Security Engineer with Linux expertise to join their team on a day-rate contract basis. They are offering a fantastic opportunity and a great rate.

Job Responsibilities

  • Implement software security strategy on a Linux based stack
  • Creatively problem solve potential security risks and actively pursue the implementation of greater software security practices and standards
  • Utilise tools and security tests to find potential system weaknesses and develop better security policies and procedures
  • Consistently remain knowledgeable of advancements in security developments and technologies
  • Communicate effectively between various departments of people and various levels of expertise
  • Work to strict time deadlines and work effectively under pressure

Experience Required

  • 5+ years experience working with Linux in a software development or security engineering capacity
  • Working experience and industry knowledge of software security engineering
  • Technical requirements
    • Good working knowledge of TCP/IP
    • Database fundamentals for PostGreSQL
    • Automation with Bash
    • Linux (CentOS preferred)
    • Python or other similar language
    • Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible
    • Experience with technology such as Docker, VMware or OpenShift Kubernetes
  • Experience implementing cybersecurity controls such as NIST 800-53, OWASP, Centre for Internet Security (CIS), NIST CSF, ISO 27001, COBIT etc. is a bonus

Educational Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree, or masters from a recognised institution
