Job Responsibilities
- You will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of IT Projects, leveraging your domain knowledge & sector experience
- Manage & optimize the flow of value through the Agile Release Train (ART) using various tools, such as the Program Kanban and other information radiators
- Establish & communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs)
- Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process that drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, & Backlogs, & through Pre- and Post-PI Planning events
- You will facilitate the PI planning event
- Summarize Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives & publish them for visibility & transparency
- Assist in tracking the execution of features & capabilities
- Facilitate periodic synchronization events, including the ART sync
- Assist with economic decision-making by facilitating feature & capability estimation by teams & the roll-up to Epics, where necessary Coach leaders, teams, & Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices & mindsets
- Help manage risks & dependencies
- Escalate & track impediments
- Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks
- Encourage collaboration between teams & System & Solution Architects/Engineering
- You will work with Product & Solution Management, Product Owners, & other stakeholders to help ensure strategy & execution alignment
- Improve the flow of value through value streams by improving & assessing the practices associated with DevOps and Release on Demand in the Continuous Delivery Pipeline
- Help drive the Lean User Experience (UX) innovation cycle
- Work with the Program Management Office on program execution & operational excellence
- Understand & operate within Lean Budgets & ensure adherence to Guardrails
- Facilitate System Demos
- Drive relentless improvement via Inspect & Adapt workshops; assess the agility level of the ART and help them improve
- Create high-quality work products & act as a subject matter resource on one or more services, leveraging knowledge & experience to shape services
- Maintains focus so that projects deliver on key priorities & dependencies & are managed to realise business benefits to agreed timelines
- Identifies & advises on project level decisions that influence significant project direction & escalates decisions that cannot be resolved to the agreed governance forums.
Experience Required
- A min of 7 years’ experience working for a leading company, in delivery of large-scale complex change/transformation programmes or systems integration programmes
- Hands-on experience acting in a Release Train Engineer role and working with Agile methods for software delivery e.g., Scrum, SAFE, Kanban, Lean, TDD & CI/CD.
- Proven skills in effectively coaching, mentoring & motivating a cross functional Agile team (consisting of PO, Developers and QA) to improve the pace & evolve delivery practices
- A proven ability to manage and deliver on software projects in a fast-paced environment
- Be able to manage different stakeholders across the project you work on
- Have a proven ability to be able to take a ‘big picture’ delivery and project management view as well as being able to work at a detailed level across a broad range of contract types and engagement approaches
- Experience of working in a matrix managed organisation
- Excellent communication skills – tailoring communications to suit a mix of audiences & ability to translate strategy into measurable business benefits
Essential and Desirable Skills
- Additional non agile specific accreditation and practitioner experience of a range of Project Management approaches including PRINCE2, PMI, PMOBOK etc. or Master’s Level in Project Management or similar discipline from a recognised third level institution
- Excellent presentation skills
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
- People management experience
Educational Requirements
- A strong academic record including a third level degree, preferably in a business or IT related discipline, from a recognised third level institution
- Additional professional qualifications, such as Scrum Master, Scrum Product Owner and SAFe or Diploma Level in Agile Project Management or similar discipline from a recognised third level institution or accreditation body
