Network Operations Center Engineer

Job Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot networks across multiple locations in accordance with network availability guidelines.
• Contribute to providing 24/7/365 coverage by working on a rotating shift rota.
• Quickly respond to trouble ticket incidents in line with customer SLAs and effectively handle customer escalations.
• Deal with third party vendors regarding backhaul network issues.
• Record problem descriptions and maintain documentation around support guidance and procedures.
• Assure accurate information is transferred over from one shift to another.

Experience Required

• Ideally 1-2 years’ experience in a similar Network Operations / Technical Support role.
• Graduates in Electronic Engineering and similar fields may also be considered.
• Background in a similar 24/7 Network Operations company would be a distinct advantage.

Essential and Desirable Skills

• Knowledge of optical network installation, monitoring, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Ambitious, career-driven, and self-motivated to continuously build knowledge.
• Quick learner who can work independently and as part of a team.
• Interested in technology and enjoy solving technical problems.
• Flexible to work in a rotating shift pattern, including evenings and weekends.
• Knowledge of the following would be a distinct advantage:
• Protocols – MPLS, BGP, and OSPF
• Ethernet, TCP/IP and OSI
• SONET / SDH / DWDM / Dark Fiber

Educational Requirements

• Third level degree in Electronic Engineering or a similar field.
• CCNA / CCNP certification or equivalent would be ideal.
