Job Description

West Dublin based software company requires a Mid-Level Java Developer to join their team on a permanent basis.

Job Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing Java-based applications.
  • Analyzing user requirements to inform application design.
  • Defining application objectives and functionality.
  • Aligning application design with business goals.
  • Developing and testing software.
  • Debugging and resolving technical problems that arise.
  • Producing detailed design documentation.
  • Recommending changes to existing Java infrastructure.
  • Developing multimedia applications.
  • Developing documentation to assist users.

Experience Required

  • 3 or more years’ professional experience in a Java or JEE environment.
  • Experience with Open Source frameworks.

Essential and Desirable Skills

  • Advanced Java programming skills (including Java 8).
  • Experience with Open Source frameworks (Spring, Hibernate) and Web Architecture patterns (MVC, Micro-services).
  • Good grasping of Selenium, TestNG, JUnit.
  • Experience with SoapUI, jMeter and other testing tools.
  • Knowledge of at least one JavaScript libraries such as JQuery, Angular 2, Bootstrap.
  • Ability to produce effective tests at all levels (unit, integration, acceptance).
  • Knowledge of automation tests definition, implementation, automation frameworks architecture and solutions.
  • Solid understanding of XML/JSON and interacting with REST APIs.
  • Experienced in exposing and consuming Web Services (SOAP / REST).
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, query optimization and database engines, preferably Oracle.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment (SCRUM/Kanban) with Continuous Integration (Jenkins/Hudson) and version control (SVN/GIT).
  • Experience with scalable, transactional and distributed systems.
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Previous work in a continuous delivery environment desired.
  • Understanding of infrastructure and operational aspects desired.
  • Experience with deploying applications on a J2EE application servers, preferably JBoss desired.
  • Knowledge of cross-browser compatibility and web standards (HTML5) desired.

Educational Requirements

  • Third level degree in related field or relevant work experience in lieu.
