Job Responsibilities
- Design flexible courses by use of a range of synchronous and asynchronous platforms and using the associated data to enhance the student experience;
- Collaborate with academic staff, industry experts and the operations team to apply learning design approaches to a range of course modalities (online, blended and face-to-face) to meet learning objectives and outcomes;
- Working in a collaborative manner with the Digital Learning Manager on content development;
- Identify areas for innovation and improvement through engagement with stakeholders;
- Work collaboratively with the IT Department on technical issues relating to implementation and the deployment of technologies and applications to support delivery;
- Support the enhancement of the digital learning resources; and
- Complete regular reviews of Online learning resources with a view to enhance digital learning experience.
Experience Required
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience of curriculum design and development;
- Demonstrable skills in the design and development of digital learning resources;
- Experience providing professional development to relevant stakeholders, primarily online and also face-to-face instruction;
- Strong commitment to learning design/pedagogical innovation;
- Experience working with stakeholders to design and deliver online and blended courses;
- Experience in the technologies, design and assessment of digital portfolios;
- Experience designing course for learning management systems and synchronous platforms;
- Experience in content development using authoring tools;
- Familiarity with a standard content production processes and methods (e.g. storyboards, asset production and maintenance, etc.);
- Experience of working in project teams with proven ability to take initiative and to take ownership for work;
- Excellent communications skills; oral, written and presentation, including the ability to explain pedagogic and technical issues clearly to people at all levels of technical and academic knowledge;
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects and adhere to tight deadlines;
- Excellent IT skills including a knowledge of VLE Technologies such as Moodle;
- Familiarity with best practice research in online, distance and technology-enhanced learning in higher education;
- Familiarity with common standards and formats (e.g. HTML5, SCORM, etc.);
- Familiarity with the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL);
- A willingness to learn new technologies and develop an understanding of emerging areas of enhancement to Teaching, Learning and Assessment; and
- Ability to champion a positive approach to change through the effective leadership of continuous improvement initiatives relevant to the application of educational technologies.
