Job Description
Java / J2EE Developer required for an excellent Dublin City Centre based company in a very exciting industry. This is a permanent role.
Job Responsibilities:
We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer. This is a leadership role requiring very strong technical and architectural skills and very strong communications and people management skills. The Senior J2EE Software Engineer will have overall responsibility for all technical aspects of our Learning Management system, the architectural decisions, estimations, code reviews, daily management of developers, liaising with contractors and outsourced vendors, reporting to project managers etc.
Very strong J2EE Skills are essential as is working knowledge of Spring and Hibernate. Knowledge of Tapestry is desirable. Experience of the eLearning sector would be an advantage.
This Senior J2EE Engineer will report directly to the Engineering Manager and is located in our Development office in Dublin.
Experience Required:
- Participate in all phases of development from definition and design through implementation, debugging and testing
- Provide technical leadership and take ownership for component design, development and maintenance
- Analyse and estimate change requests
- Day to day management of developers on a range of projects
- Code Reviews
- Weekly Reporting to Senior Management
- Assist in defining structured practices especially in source code management, build and release management
Essential and Desirable Skills:
- 7+ years enterprise Java J2EE development experience
- Strong experience of the Hibernate and Spring Frameworks
- Software build experience using Ant
- Practical knowledge of Source Control Management, specifically branching, tagging and merging of different code streams
- Requires a strong level of interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills, with fluent English
Educational Requirements:
- 3rd level degree in Information Technology.

Very efficient job hunting process. I sent an application in the morning, I was contacted in the afternoon, I got an interview scheduled for the day after and got an offer on the same day! I recently had the pleasure of dealing with Jonathan and Stephen from Eolas, and would have to say they are two top class Recruiters. An interview was initially set up for a role in Dublin, but due to personal reasons, I was unable to attend. Jonathan rearranged the interview with the minimum of fuss. Throughout the process, both guys made sure I was fully prepped and what to expect from the interview and we're always available for any questions I may have had. Once the process was complete, the feedback was immediate, and in my case, luckily, was successful. I would highly recommend Eolas as they were very professional and great to deal with. I was dealing with Nicola who helped me get the job I was after and kept me updated on progress on at all times and provided interview tips that came in very handy. I would definitely use Eolas again and would contact Nicola as first point of call if ever I was looking for a career move in the future.

Cannot say enough nice things about Stephen H and Yasmin in Eolas.
