Java Developer

My Dublin based client is recruiting for a Senior Java Developer to join the team. The candidate will be expected to develop the applications from scratch and to lead the Development team and also have proven experience of leading development and QA teams in an Agile environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Design and develop a high-volume, high-availability and low-latency platform
• Hire, mentor and lead a team of driven software developers and QAs to work with you
• Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle
• Write well designed, testable, efficient code

Experience Required

• 10+ years professional software development experience
• 5+ years experience developing with Java
• Hands on experience in designing and developing applications using Java J2EE platforms
• Profound insight into Java and J2EE
• Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases, SQL and ORM technologies
• Experience in developing web applications using at least one popular web framework (JSF,Wicket, GWT, Spring MVC)
• Experience in version control systems, ideally Git
• Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced development schedule
• Line management and leadership experience as several people will be reporting to you
  (performance tracking, appraisals and goal setting for members of your team)
• Strong communication skills and fluency in verbal and written English are essential

Essential and Desirable Skills

• Experience of AWS cloud environment
• A track record of developing and operating a modern mass market online platform
• Excellent communication skills as you will need to communicate with diverse stakeholders
• Unit testing, test-driven development and behaviour-driven development a definite plus

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or similar
