Job Description

My Dublin based client is actively recruiting an IT Applications Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supporting the development and implementation of a range of EMS application projects.
  • Analysing the Business User requirements, obligations, procedures and problems to automate or enhance application functionality.
  • Assisting in developing tools, processes and procedures that enhance system accuracy and which are aligned to the business strategy.
  • Liaising with external business partners to construct project solutions, in the areas of technology integration, data management and exchange.
  • Performing systems maintenance and improvement activities.
  • Assisting and supporting, in real-time, the troubleshooting of issues and providing subject matter expertise to resolve these (possibly as part of a defined 24/7 on call rota) for our key customers.
  • Analysing data processing issues to implement and improve System Applications, computer applications and interfaces.
  • Achieve emergency recovery and troubleshooting of systems and application
  • Participating in Disaster Recovery drills and contributing to the Group’s Business Continuity Management process
  • Supporting delivery of training objectives and of internal/external training documentation and programmes.

Experience Required

  • Experience of working in a complex, challenging environment with critical systems.
  • Good technical skills and knowledge such as analysis, testing, design, implementation programming and maintenance
  • Written and verbal communication skills including ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and strong technical report writing capability
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of conceiving and introducing innovative IT and data management ideas, concepts and solutions.
  • Experience working with MS Office tools (including advanced Excel skills, SQL, MS Project and Visio or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, while also being able to define and guide his/her own work under minimal supervision.

Essential and Desirable Skills

  • Expertise in GE EMS/DTS advanced applications (e-terrahabitat/e-terraplatform)
  • A good understanding of Powertech DSATools system analysis tools
  • Experience with FORTRAN, C, C++, Perl and/or Python scripting
  • Experience of Oracle, PL/SQL and XML
  • Experience of delivering support to systems within a highly available and regulated environment
  • Working knowledge of change and issue management.
  • Understanding of ITIL and best-practice service delivery methods

Educational Requirements

  • An engineering/IT degree or equivalent with proven applications analyst experience
