Role Description:
My Dublin based client has developed an ambitious Business Strategy to respond to the unprecedented level of change and opportunity in the IT industry.
The role holder will work with a team of world leading system operators, to bring governance, structure and organisation to large scale strategic projects, ensuring effective and engaging reporting. Key to success in the role with be partnering across the Innovation & Planning function to deliver these strategic projects on-time and within budget
This role will support the Chief Innovation and Planning Officer (CIPO) in shaping the departmental business plan and maximize the team’s communication tools and tactics.
The role holder will work closely with the CIPO to monitor the achievement of key milestones and to ensure the efficient deployment of resources.
The role holder will scope out and secure buy in to the stakeholder plan for the CIPO department, ensuring alignment with the Strategy Office.
The Head of Programme Delivery will drive improvements in project delivery for CIPO by identifying new approaches and will extract value from flexible programme delivery methods while respecting the need for strong governance.
The role holder will work closely with the Head of IT Portfolio and Engagement in guiding the prioritization of the business requirements into the IT delivery programme to ensure it aligns with the overall Group strategy.
The role holder will be responsible for supporting the CIPO management team in putting in place and then managing the necessary frameworks for deployment of strategic partners and vendors.
The role holder will support the CPIO in the production of the directorate’s one and five year business plans and the quarterly reporting on same.
The role holder will be the risk management champion for the CIPO department and will work across the CIPO leaders to ensure all risk are proactively managed
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, lead and engage a top performing team of programme management experts to deliver on strategic objectives while ensuring that the appropriate capabilities are available to deliver on the future needs of the company
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across departments, vendors, and subject matter experts to create and execute complex project plans and schedules; bringing projects in on-time and within budget
- Lead the internal processes across the directorate to prioritise the business project portfolio to meet the Group strategic ambition and working within the regulatory price control frameworks
- Drive a culture of delivery across the CIPO function
- Manage the relationship with Distribution System Operators
- Develop a 1 to 5 year delivery plan with the Distribution System Operators
- Manage the procurement, on boarding, deployment and overall performance of strategic partners and experts to ensure the overall ambition of CIPO and the Group are being achieved service at effective cost levels in line with the agreed processes for key vendor management
- Coordinate the total resource needs across the CIPO function
- Work with the Head of Regulation to manage the CIPO engagements with the Regulatory Authorities
- Drive standards for project and programme management in line with best practice in the sector and manage overall resource demand and portfolio planning, to proactively managed resourcing, financial management, organisational change management, business benefits, risk management and end to end Quality Assurance.
- Develop the metrics and milestones to monitor progress across the directorate enabling the continuous review and refinement of strategies and plans
- Exemplify and role model the values and leadership behaviours expected of a senior leader in the organisation and lead the process of cultural transformation within the business unit.
- Partner with the Finance and HR teams to manage budget, headcount and labour plans in line with the Delegated Control Framework and group guidelines
- Ensure quality of output from cross-functional teams, and ensure deliverables are current and accessible
- Measure the stakeholder experience setting out initiatives to review and improve the experience via focused initiatives and systematic Customer Feedback processes
- Manage budget, workforce planning and procurement processes in line with the Delegated Control Framework and Group guidelines and policies and report on the management of same on a quarterly basis
- Maintain excellent verbal and written communication with all stakeholders; provide insights to enhance communications across the directorate teams
- Proactively build project management skills and expertise by learning and embracing new technology, staying abreast of industry developments and best practices
Critical knowledge, skills and experience:
- Experience of delivering excellence in project management services within projects and programs – which should include business case writing, scoping, scheduling, planning, risk management, programme financial management and reporting, resource management, vendor management and portfolio / programme governance
- Experience of creating, leading and influencing high performing teams in changing circumstances
- Exceptional relationship management skills, capable of procuring and managing complex partnership structures to deliver highly technical solutions in support of the companies strategy
- Able to anticipate and manage risk
- Exceptional people leader, able to set out a vision and plan, and bring employees with her/him on the change journey
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances, demonstrate resilience and be comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity
