Job Description

South-east based software company are seeking a Head of Engineering to join their team on a permanent basis.

Job Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will be managing a team with experience in a variety of technologies and business sectors (Systems, Development, Networking, etc.)
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the development and testing teams to create a culture of efficiency and excellent performance.
  • Establish working relationships with key personnel in the company.
  • Determine and monitor the team’s training needs to ensure a correct level of knowledge and experience to complete their tasks.
  • Accountable for all technical design, development, testing, and delivery as the overall technical lead across these functions.
  • Ensure all software/ technical design documentation feeds into the implementation phase of all projects.
  • Regularly review technology design for existing solutions and flag for update where appropriate.
  • Create detailed engineering plans, processes, policies, and procedures for the engineering and technical work preformed.
  • Recruitment, overseeing, and evaluating your team.
  • Preparation and delivery of presentations internally and externally.

Experience Required

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership/ managerial role.

Essential and Desirable Skills

  • Strong experience managing a team using multiple technologies and disciplines.
  • Excellent time management skills with proven record on prioritization of tasks to keep projects and team on track.
  • Ability to operate under tight time-frames and under pressure.
  • Past experience recruiting and building development teams.
  • Ability to identify weaknesses and strengths of alternative solutions to problems.
  • Telco experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Educational Requirements

  • Honours degree in Computer Science or related subject.
