Job Description

Dublin City Centre Financial Services client requires a .Net Web Developer for a 6 month contract with VB.Net experience.

Job Responsibilities:

 The Financial Software Development department is responsible for the development & support of financial software

  • Interpretation of business requirements to produce technical solutions
  • Specification & development of solutions to meet business requirements
  • Completion of initial testing
  • Liaising with & supporting the department Release Control Analyst & the Testing team to ensure full functional & regression testing is complete
  • Ensuring all activity complies with relevant regulatory, legal & other standards

Reporting to the FSD Manager the successful candidate will be required to:

  • Work closely with other colleagues within the FSD team, Test teams, Actuaries, Project Managers and Clients to ensure that requirements, as identified, are met and to ensure the delivery of expected functionality.
  • Agree development schedules in conjunction with the FSD manager & deliver required development within the agreed timeframe
  • Develop a detailed understanding of the intimate workings of the portfolio of products currently serviced. They also need to understand the implications / interactions of the various facets of the business to ensure that a change to a specific piece of functionality has the desired effect on what may at first appear to be an unrelated function.  This also applies to any potential new practices adopted around Fund Administration & Datawarehouse Systems and any other integrated systems ensuring that they fit comfortably in with other aspects of the business.

Experience Required:

  • Extensive experience working with .NET (vb preferable) & SQL Server is required.  Experience working with SSIS, DevExpress and LLBL GenPro is preferable.
  • Proven experience within a similar organisation. Specific knowledge of Unit Linked, Index Lined and Portfolio bonds would be desirable.
  • Previous experience working in a role within an IT department

Essential and Desirable Skills:

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and technical writing skills.
  • An ability to communicate effectively cross departmental with all levels of personnel, and on occasion with external clients.
  • Ability to interrogate business processes to identify & develop a proposal for improvement

Educational Requirements:

  • University degree or diploma in related field or equivalent professional training and experience.
