Job Description

Excellent South Dublin client looking for a DevOps Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. This candidate must be an expert in Cassandra.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the DevOps team
  • Install, administer and maintain Cassandra at enterprise level
  • Design, build and maintain highly available Cassandra clusters
  • Monitor, scale up/down, roll out new updates of Cassandra clusters
  • Conduct performance and failing testing to find areas for improvement
  • Work with Cassandra in several environments (on premise, AWS, GCP, Azure or Kubernetes)
  • Use/Develop automation tools
  • Act as a Level 3 technical escalation point of contact
  • Secure Cassandra implementation
  • Implement observability infrastructure using Filebeat, Metricbeat, Winlogbeat, Heartbeat, Functionbeat, LogStash, Cassandra and Kibana
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and other duties as defined by management

Experience Required

  • At least 2 years of experience with Cassandra
  • Strong knowledge of Cassandra
  • Practical Experience with Infrastructure as code tools.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Excellent attention to detail and works effectively with a fast-growing organization.

Essential and Desirable Skills

  • Experience in building and administering Cassandra platform using open source tools and command line utilities
  • Experience in managing Cassandra Indices and Index Lifecycle Management
  • Experience with log aggregation and metric collection
  • Operating System: Linux
  • Programming logic, Shell script, Python
  • Version control system: Git
  • Network Protocols, with an understanding of LAN/WAN networking and communications.

Educational Requirements

  • 3rd Level Degree in Computer/engineering or related experience
