Job Description

Our utilities client has an exciting opportunity for a database specialist to come on board on a permanent basis and join a dynamic team – excellent career progression opportunities

Job Responsibilities

  • Gain and develop an understanding for the existing infrastructure – Oracle, PostGres and SQL Server
  • Support existing programs of work to upgrade on premise and cloud systems
  • Undertake database administration activities
  • Work within a team of database professionals to continually optimise efficiency in project delivery
  • Undertake to optimise a solutions based approach to current projects

Experience Required

  • 2-4+ years of professional experience required in a solely database centric environment
  • Database administration across the three existing technologies and experience of one or more of SQL Server, Oracle or PostGres
  • Knowledge of database backup and recovery (RMAN). A familiarity with CommVault is desired but not essential
  • Knowledge of cloud based servers and procedures including: Azure DevOps, Data Integration and Azure pipeline management
  • Database cloning & migrations
  • An ability to understand and explain technical concepts to those who are not as technically knowledgeable
  • Skill in working within a team, with both written and verbal communication skills

Essential and Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of Oracle technologies preferred: RAC, OEM, Data Guard
  • Certifications in Database and/ or Cloud desirable

Educational Requirements

  • A degree in computer science or related discipline from a recognised third level institute
