Job Description

My Dublin based client is currently recruiting for a Data Protection Officer (DPO) to join the team on a permanent basis. This will be a hybrid model.

My Dublin based client is currently recruiting for a Data Protection and Regulatory Compliance Manager  (DPO) to join the team on a permanent basis. This will be a hybrid model. The candidate will lead the development and oversee the effective management of the data protection framework and will look after the overall data protection strategy. You will monitor compliance with data protection requirements. The DPO will communicate with various categories of data subjects, and stakeholders and the role will report directly in the Director of Compliance. You will provide support and assistance to the Compliance team to implement and oversee the compliance framework. You will work closely with the business and oversee the adherence to applicable laws and regulations for the client and identify applicable laws and regulations, monitor and over the implementation of regulatory changes and continuously enforce and enhance best practices to ensure all the business is carried out in accordance with all applicable legislation and regulations.

Job Responsibilities

  • You will lead the development & maintenance of data protection framework, developing & driving a data protection culture through awareness, training, & providing advice at all levels
  • You will create & maintain robust policies & procedures & communicate effectively to the business & input into relevant policies & procedures developed by other business functions.
  • You will determine optimal training strategy, content & mode of delivery; maintain accurate & easily accessible training materials & records, working closely with training colleagues for roll-out & delivery.
  • You will monitor & audit compliance with GDPR and policies.
  • You will provide advice & guidance with regard to documenting data processing activities in the form of Data Flows & Data Inventories and you will follow up with business as required to ensure records are maintained.
  •  You will provide advice regarding Privacy Impact
  • You will adopt a risk-based approach in the performance of tasks with the main focus being on the organisational processing activities which are high-risk and co-operate with relevant regulatory authorities as needed.
  • You will be the point of contact for all queries from data subjects including providing advice on data access requests where required.
  • You will collaborate closely with leaders in each department to understand information flows & evaluate how their data is processed & categorised, what business processes make use of the data &  and how the controls provide proper security and compliance.
  •  You will ensure provision of prompt, accurate advice & oversight to the business on compliance & regulatory
  •  You will input to relevant business policies & procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and codes.
  • Stay abreast of changes in the Irish regulatory environment
  • To create and maintain a culture of compliance within the business.

Experience Required

  •      Relevant & timely updates on DP & Regulatory matters to senior management.
  •      Policies & procedures in place & communicated.
  •      Relevant communications & training deployed.
  •      You will discuss with Operational Risk to ensure risks documented; controls in place & monitoring/testing carried out.
  •      Data flows & data inventories in place and up to date.
  •      Privacy Impact Assessments completed where required. (DPIA, LIA, TIA)
  •      Documented risk assessment & plan, reviewed & updated as required.
  •      Audit logs & actions documented
  •      Data flows & data inventories in place and up to date.

Essential and Desirable Skills

  • Previous Data Protection experience
  • Regulatory Compliance Management

Educational Requirements

  •     3rd level education to Degree or Master level
  •      Legal qualification and/or Licentiate of the Association of Compliance Officers in Ireland
  •      Data Protection qualification
  •      Excellent experience either in-house or externally in a financial services environment
  •      Good In depth understanding of the General Data Protection Regulation & the regulatory landscape
  •      Experience in design and delivery of training courses
