DATA PROTECTION / IT GOVERNANCE MANAGER

About the role:

This new Senior Management role has primary responsibility for driving our EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Data Protection programmes. The person will oversee all aspects of IT Governance, with specific responsibility for the role of Data Protection Officer for the company. The role holder will have a significant influence on the planning and direction of our GDPR, Data Protection and IT Security initiatives.

In additional to the GDPR and Data Protection responsibilities, the Senior Manager IT Governance will lead the Programme Management Office (PMO) through the planning & estimation processes, resource capacity planning, delivery tracking and benefits realisation management in relation to the portfolio of change initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Hold the Data Protection Officer role for the company.

Own and drive the programme of work for General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Lead and manage a team of IT specialists with responsibility for:

• PMO Planning, Tracking and Reporting
  Data Protection and GDPR
  IT Security Risk and Compliance
  IT Budgeting and Financial Management
  IT Policies and Standards
  IT Vendor Management
  Business Continuity Planning (BCP).

Work with the CTOO, Senior IT colleagues, and Project Sponsors to prioritise programmes, and the allocation of resources appropriate to project budgets.

Take an active part in articulating how IT will deliver against the strategic initiatives of the organisation, and assist Senior Business Sponsors to formulate and assess business cases for change programmes.

Invest in positive working relationships across all aspects of our business, and be a Thought Leader on getting projects right first time.

Take the lead role in our annual IT budgeting process.

Knowledge / Skills/ Competencies of Manager

o 7+ years of proven Data Protection and/or compliance management experience.

o Hold an appropriate Data Protection qualification and have a clear understanding of Data Protection Law and Regulations in Ireland.

o PMO experience (ideally scale €5-10m annual capital expenditure) and / or managing large IT and/or business change programmes.

o Experience of regulated environments, preferably in general insurance, life assurance or financial services.

o Relevant Third Level Qualification or MBA preferred.

o Project Management Certification would be helpful, though not a prerequisite e.g. PMP, CAPM, PRINCE 2 or PMBOK.

o Exposure to IT governance frameworks (COBIT/ITIL) would be helpful.
