 Summary of Role:


My client has re-platformed its business applications and requires a Configuration, Change and Release Manager. The Configuration, Change & Release Manager will be responsible for the integrity of the Application and Database environments, managing the test and production environments including deploying releases as well as overseeing and assessing all Requests for Change (RFC) to the  Application and Infrastructure. The Configuration, Change & Release Manager will ensure standardised methods and procedures are used for efficient and prompt handling of all Changes to Configuration Items (CI) through effective Release Management and will promote best practices of release and environment management.

This is a hands-on technical role, the overall goal being to deliver efficient, timely change while minimising the impact of Change related incidents upon IT service quality and consequently to improve the day-to-day operations. The Release Manager will also manage relationships with third parties and stakeholders and work closely with internal development and test teams.


Key Responsibilities


  • Maintain the Integrity of the Application & Data environment.
  • Manage Change and Release Management policy and processes.
  • Oversight and deployment of new versions of hardware and software.
  • Ensuring that the change process meets the specifications of the relevant RFC.
  • Work in conjunction with Solutions Architects to understand requirements.
  • Maintain up to date documentation of software and Infrastructure environments.
  • Perform impact assessment on RFCs.
  • Manage the IT infrastructure configuration with a sufficient level of detail and managing this information using the CMDB.
  • Ensure coordination of build and test environments
  • Ensures all changes and releases follow the organisation’s established policies and procedures.
  • Chairs all CAB meetings.
  • Authorizes acceptable changes in conjunction with CAB.
  • Issues change schedules.
  • Reviews all outstanding RFCs.


Key requirements

  • 5+ Years’ Experience of working on Production environments.
  • Experience working within a Unix environment (Linux).
  • Experience and strong understanding of Relational Databases.
  • A good understanding of all elements of IT Application Infrastructure.
  • Good troubleshooting skills required.
