Job Description
My Dublin City Centre based client is recruiting for a Business Analyst with a strong retail background.
Overview
To design and deliver appropriate business solutions meeting business and client needs whilst ensuring current designs, work with the approach within product solutions. Perform all aspects of the development life -cycle from detailed requirements specification through to providing support for the systems implementations.
- Work with Customers and Product Consultants to capture and define requirements for new product features
- Ability to communicate to Customers what the current product functionality entails so that ‘gaps’ and enhancements can be clearly identified
- Act as the ‘bridge’ between internal Development teams and Customers / Product Consultants in clarifying requirements, getting answers to questions and agreeing alternative solutions where necessary
- Communicate product enhancements clearly in the form of User-stories, Use-cases, Wireframes / Mock-ups, Flow diagrams, etc. as appropriate
- Support internal Development teams through the development and test process, providing guidance on intended functionality as required
- Assist in the preparation of Acceptance test cases and also, where required, in the execution of testing to ensure resulting features operate as stakeholders expect
- Travel to customers’ sites on intermittent basis to attend, present or coordinate workshops
- Carry out analysis of non-trivial Production issues where behaviour deviates from the norm and advise on resolution
Required skills & knowledge:
- 3+ years’ experience in Business Analysis in a fast-paced organisation, ideally in a Retail or Wholesale environment
- Excellent written and verbal communications, including stakeholder management
- Proven track record of capturing and documenting application features from inception through to successful customer delivery
- Ability to clearly capture and explain complicated processes and concepts to non-experts across various teams and management levels
- Detail-oriented, with strong problem solving and analytical skills and sound business judgment
- Good understanding of the Software Development lifecycle in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Proven experience with some / all of the following:
- MS Office, HTML, Markdown, Google docs
- Creation of Business Models and Flowcharts e.g. MS Visio, draw.io
- Wireframe and Mockup creation
- Creation of User-stories, Use-cases e.g. in JIRA or equivalent
- Creation of full Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) where required
- SQL: Identification or preparation of data for test or demonstration purposes
- Demonstrable appreciation for the importance of user experience
- Ability to prepare test cases, and support or execute test activities as required
- Willingness to question and suggest areas for improvement along with possible alternative solutions
- Third level qualification in Business and/or IT or related discipline
