Job Description

Dublin City Centre Financial Services client requires a Build and Release Engineer for a permanent role with experience working in a Continuous Integration & Delivery environment.

Job Responsibilities

This role covers all stages of the software development lifecycle from application design & development to system amendment, maintenance and support. Development tasks will have a mixture of business and technical deliverables.

All development will require a high degree of co-operation with other team areas within the IT unit. In particular the individual will work closely with senior software developers and architects to ensure compliance with standards & conventions, and work alongside business analysts to gather and understand the business requirements for systems being delivered.

  • Responsible for build, test and deploy automation;
  • Implement best of breed, scalable solutions according to defined patterns and practices;
  • Responsible for application integration with all required systems, databases and services;
  • Responsible for the application functionality, performance and scalability;
  • Responsible for working with the business Product Owner to understand requirements and architect suitable solutions;
  • Work as part of a Scrum team using Agile software development practices.

Experience Required

  • Experience working in a Continuous Integration & Delivery environment;
  • Extensive hands-on technical consulting and solution implementation experience, including one or more common enterprise software solutions;
  • Keen ability to quickly understand the company’s processes and connect business requirements with the functional capabilities of the application;
  • Proven ability to analyse, design and optimize business processes via technology and integration, including leadership in guiding colleagues in rationalizing and deploying emerging technology for business use cases;
  • A thorough understanding of web services, data modelling and enterprise application integration concepts, including experience with enterprise integration tools (ESBs and/or ETL tools) and common integration design patterns with enterprise systems;
  • Excellent problem solving skills;
  • Solid Experience in leading workshops to define and prioritize requirements and required capabilities. Ability to ask hard questions during workshops and suggest best practices and efficient ways to design the best solution;
  • Hands-on implementation and coding experience with a high level of attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter;
  • Must have experience of working with SaaS solutions;
  • Ability to implement best of breed pipelines;
  • Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Essential and Desirable Skills

  • CI/CD, using Jenkins, SonarQube, Git, Azure DevOps
  • Automated Release Management and Integration
  • Excellent knowledge of Build Frameworks (e.g. maven, gradle, msbuild, junit)
  • JAVA 8 or higher
  • .NET Framework
  • Database Packaging and Deployment
  • Artefact Management, Maven and Nuget
  • Powershell and Windows Command Line
  • Automated Monitoring at least one of Elk Stack, Neu Relic, Elastic.io
  • Network troubleshooting experience, including Firewalls, Proxy Servers and configuration
  • SQL Experience, Preferably MSSQL Server
  • Automated Testing
  • End to End Test Case Management
  • Hands on Implementation with Identity and Access Management, including SAML2, OAUTH, SSL, LDAP, DS, Kerberos
  • Cloud Infrastructure (Azure/Google/AWS)
  • Docker & Kubernetes
  • Chef Ansible or Terraform
  • Secrets Management
  • Atlassian Collaboration Tools
  • SalesforceDX
  • Continuous Database Integration Tools DBMaestro, Redgate
  • Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Vagrant
  • Fully automated SDLC integration in a digital environment

Educational Requirements

  • 3rd level qualification, preferably in a related discipline.
