Job Description
My Dublin based client is looking an experienced BI Specialist/Data Analyst/Teradata Specialist to join the team for a permanent position
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop Teradata applications to meet business requirements using Teradata SQL, ETL and Micro Strategy
- Deliver end to end solutions using Agile methodology with optimal performance and data storage
- Accountable for delivery of the Data and Reporting elements of IT projects across each stage of delivery life cycle via resource management, requirements management, project plan, design, development and testing
- Project sizing and feasibility studies
- Efficiency tuning of Teradata (Statistics / Partitioning / Join indexing / Parallelism)
- Production and review of design documents
- Undertake ad-hoc data analysis and reporting using SQL and Micro Strategy
- Support of mission critical, near real time processes and resolution of issues
- Deliver software and hardware upgrades to Data Warehouse and ETL tools
- Ensure sufficient quality checks in place to detect or resolve issues with input data
- Database and Virtual server space analysis and maintenance
- Develop and execute detailed Test Plans
- Maintain Teradata Data Model using Erwin
- Strong focus on adherence to standards/methodologies (Sarbanes Oxley)
- Support implementation of solutions for Business Unit Reporting needs (using Micro Strategy BI query tool)
- New jobs / Modification of existing jobs – Unix scripts
- Report and query outputs, using SQL and Micro Strategy
- Technical design and implementation of Teradata SQL applications, ETL development and Big Data analytics
- Information and analytics delivery to business users as required using Business Intelligence tools and/or other software tools
- Technical lead for the Delivery of the Data and the Reporting elements of IT/Business Projects by gathering requirements, sizing and designing solutions, overseeing development tasks and creating reports
- Develop new reports and analyse existing reports using Micro Strategy
- Cross functional stakeholder management including requirements gathering and analysis
- Maintenance of formal Data Model, and database entity relationships
- Provision of periodic weekend / on-call support
Experience Required
- Combination of technical and business skills
- 5 years technical experience, in a data analytics or data scientist role
- Working knowledge of complex data models
- Experience of complex solutions and full project management lifecycle development/methodologies
- Strong communications skills
Essential & Desirable Skills
- Experience on at least one large Data Warehouse or MIS project
Experienced at debugging complex logic
- Hands-on experience of UNIX, TERADATA and AB INITIO, MicroStrategy while not essential, would be a distinct advantage
- Knowledge of Telecommunication industry (Fixed Line and Mobile), not essential, but a distinct advantage
- Programming background – database knowledge; Strong SQL, ETL tools, file manipulation eg Unix skills
- Knowledge of reporting tools an advantage
