About the role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Applications Support Analyst. This is a challenging role requiring technical excellence, business analysis skills, strong systems expertise and operational knowledge. The primary purpose of this role is systems application support, release management and system administration of mission critical applications to ensure system availability is met and to minimize any potential business impacts associated.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support, manage and maintain critical systems to ensure that agreed system up-time targets are met and exceeded
- Participate with peers and service groups to ensure on-time execution of all new deliverables
- Agree and deliver on yearly objectives set by Applications Team Lead
- Assist in managing customer and supplier relationships for supported systems to ensure that contractual agreements are met to maximize their value
- Plan and Provide Release Management and change control for system upgrades and product enhancements to ensure that risk is managed effectively and that improvements in application functionality are applied effectively and with minimal risk or impact
- Lead and provide input into the technology plan & life-cycle
- Produce documented processes and relevant support documentation to ensure effective and efficient work practices and meet audit standards
- Participate in outside business hours’ assignments for the deployment of changes to production systems
- Resolve technical issues upon escalation from first level support
- Escalation liaison with other technical teams for problem / analysis / resolution
- Operate, maintain and enhance Applications supporting the operation of my client’s internal business units and external customers
- Continuous development of plans for fail-over and testing of critical systems to ensure resilience is in place and tested
- Clearly escalate incidents and problems internally and with external parties where required
- Participate in on-call rota to provide after-hours support for internal business units and external customers
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:
- Strong administrative and organisational skills and experience
- Minimum of two years’ experience in supporting IT Systems
- Excellent working knowledge of operating systems including MS Windows 2008/2012 and Linux OS
- Good working knowledge of network protocols and topologies, wireless networks
- Good knowledge of databases including Oracle and MS SQL
- Excellent working knowledge of HHT devices
- Good working knowledge of ITIL practices in relation to incident management, request management, problem management, change control and continual service improvement
- Strong communication skills
