Job Description

My Client is looking for an Applications Project Manager for a Permanent role based in Dublin City Centre.

Summary

This new Applications Project Manager (APM) role provides the chance to become part of an expanding Client Technology Team, and an opportunity to create an impact in a firm that is transforming how legal professionals deliver legal services.

You will be involved in the provision of professional project management disciplines, methods, tools and governance to deliver projects efficiently and effectively.

The role will provide the right individual with good opportunities to grow and develop this function while working closely on a date to day basis with Partners and Directors.

The role will also involve working with Business service teams and external suppliers to ensure any new products or technologies which are selected are robust, scalable and align with the firm’s business and technical strategies.

It is an important and exciting role in driving the firm’s innovative approach to the practice of law, and the delivery of next generation technologies to, and service delivery systems for, our clients.

This role will exist within the PMO office and align with the Client Technology team.

Role and responsibilities

  • Apply project management standards and best practices to ensure successful execution of Client Technology projects on scope, on schedule and on budget.
  • Concurrently manage multiple projects end-to-end using industry best practices methodologies (Waterfall & Agile).
  • Work with the PMO to ensure best practice standards and project governance approaches are maintained across the Client Technology project portfolio.
  • Accountable for overall project management including planning, financial, day-to-day operational, quality assurance, go-live, rollout and communication management.
  • Ensure organisational confidence in the projects being delivered by building strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Help stakeholders evaluate trade-offs between project size and complexity, cost, urgency, risk, and business value. Manage successful RFP processes and/or product comparisons.
  • Identify inter-dependencies between resources, stakeholders and deliverables and ensure all risks are identified and mitigated.
  • Prepare detailed work plans, resourcing needs, delivery milestones and success criteria for every project.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders to ensure requirements are understood, signed off, and delivery priorities agreed prior to solution development.
  • Track deliverables against project plans. Ensure that all project status reporting is completed and all risks/issues are identified, escalated and addressed appropriately.
  • Support all phases of the projects testing cycle to ensure requirements have been delivered, success criteria has been achieved, and the solution being delivered is fit for purpose.
  • During the project go-live phase work closely with project stakeholders, internal teams, and external suppliers to ensure a smooth transition to the new solution. Ensure all necessary training is provided.
  • Proactively review keep abreast of new developments in the legal technology space.

Skills, experience and characteristics required

  • Project Management skills including financial management, planning, scheduling, reporting, resource management, communications, risk management, dependencies, scope, time quality and budget.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels from across the firm and to explain and justify project plans and approaches in clear non-technical language.
  • Experience and knowledge of the leading project management methodologies including skills in business process analysis and process mapping.
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations and respond favourably to change.
  • Ability to cope with tight schedules in a calm and effective manner and manage the delivery of multiple projects concurrently.
  • Experience of both on premise and cloud based application delivery including the transition of the applications into service.
  • In depth knowledge of risk, issue, assumption and dependency management to ensure close & consistent governance of all projects.
  • Experience of working in a Professional or a Financial Services environment preferred.

Qualifications

  • 10 years PM experience working in a similar role, delivering projects and working to recognised PM standards.
  • Experience of working as a PM within a professions services / corporate environment.
  • Familiarity with Project, Program and Development standards (e.g. Agile, Kanban)
  • A recognised project management qualification (e.g. PMP Certification).
