Job Description

Application Support Manager required for 12 Month Fixed Term Contract role with Top Financial Services Company based just outside of Co.Dublin.

Responsibilities include for the Application Support Manager:

  • Lead, coach and develop the Business Applications Support team members
  • Ensure that the team provides 1st line production support for all  applications
  • Ensure that the team work closely with the business teams on the diagnosis of system issues and in agreeing the most appropriate solution to meet business needs
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to determine all IT specifications
  • Take a lead role in related projects and drive them through to implementation ensuring that business priorities are met
  • Responsible for carrying out the testing activities for large development projects which includes planning of the system and regression tests and co-ordinates the execution of these plans
  • Coordinate, manage, and perform software/code installation in production and certification environments
  • Manage negotiations with on-site 3rd party vendors.
  • Gather, document and obtain sign-off on requirements for any change management initiatives i.e. new functionality for any supported application
  • Manage the tracking of reported problems and defects using tracking software
  • Ensuring that work is being done to appropriate standards so that external audits will be passed i.e. ensure procedures are in place and are being followed

Skills required for the Application Support Manager:

  • At least 6-7 years’ IT Applications experience within the financial services sector of which 2-3 years at team leader or manager level
  • Third level related qualification required
  • Proven experience in project management, business analysis and system testing
  • Demonstrated ability in implementing technological solutions for enhancing business processes
  • Actively spots new methodologies and opportunities for change.
  • Experience in problem solving, decision making along with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven track record of training, mentoring and coaching a team of experienced and newly appointed team member
  • Ability to delegate appropriately while working towards tight deadlines
  • Direct experience dealing with and influencing various stakeholder across the business
