Job Description

Financial Services client requires an Application Support & Development Analyst for a permanent role with Strong SQL skills.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide second line support for a wide range of applications and systems within the company.
  • User Support, Applications & Helpdesk
  • Provide support for a number of in-house and customised 3rd party applications
  • Analyse problems, including root cause analysis
  • Define possible solutions/rectification
  • Liaise and troubleshoot issues with 1st and 3rd line support teams
  • Effective and timely communication with all involved parties
  • Provide a reporting service to the business
  • Liaise with development team in diagnosing issues
  • Ensure that the information relating to the issue and the status of the resolution is kept fully up to date on the IT Helpdesk and that the business users are kept fully informed.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and business efficiencies
  • Reduce recurrence of issues
  • Assist the development team in the transition of applications from projects to the Support team and ensuring knowledge transfer of same
  • Maintain support roadmaps and knowledgebase
  • Maintain a high proficiency of all processes and procedures
  • Troubleshoot issues without existing documentation or workflows
  • Manage end-user requests for reporting and system enhancements
  • Serve as the policy admin system expert for user questions and training
  • Maintain positive, proactive relationships with internal customers
  • High level smoke testing of applications and reports
  • Create ad hoc reports for business users.
  • Provide training on applications and processes to the business and peers

Experience Required

  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ IT application support experience
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication skills
  • Team player with proven ability to work within team
  • Ability to problem solve and be proactive when faced with a challenge
  • Experience in supporting a diverse range of applications
  • Strong SQL skills – writing, analysing and updating dynamic SQL, stored procedures, functions etc.
  • Competent working with SQL Server Reporting Services

Essential and Desirable Skills

  • SSIS
  • Visual Studio
  • TFS or Azure Devops
  • Sharepoint – creating & maintaining workflows, site design, sharePoint designer.
  • MS Dynamics 365 or MS Dynamics CRM 2013/2015
  • C#
  • VBA, Visual Basic or VB.Net
  • ITIL process knowledge would be a benefit.
  • Experience working in the insurance or financial services industry

Educational Requirements

  • Computer science degree or equivalent
