A Database Administrator is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of an organisations database. The role includes planning and developing the database, as well as troubleshooting any issues which occur and ensuring the data remains consistent across the database.

Tasks may involve monitoring the performance and managing parameters to provide a fast response to front-end users, as well as working closely with IT Project Managers, Database Programmers and Multimedia Programmers. Database Administrators design, write and take care of the computer database systems so that information can be accessed at all times. In this role, they will be the keeper of the organisations most valuable assets.
Depending on the organisation and the level of responsibility, the role can vary from inputting information through to complete management of data. Every different company will have different database needs and diverse requirements.
