A Business Intelligence Manager or Data Manager position involves developing and implementing a systematic process that can identify management’s intelligence needs, gathering and analysing the related information and providing timely reports based on the analysis.
The Business Intelligence Manager role requires a vast amount of decision making, including what decisions need to be made and why, when these decisions will need to be made by and who will use the intelligence to make those decisions. This technology-driven process for analysing data and presenting actionable information helps corporate executives to make informed business decisions.
BI incorporates a wide variety of tools, applications and methodologies that can enable a business to collect the relevant data from systems and external sources, prepare it for analysis and develop and run queries against the data. Competencies such as business acumen, communications, technical capacity, presentation skills, leadership, collaboration and personal effectiveness/credibility will help to ensure success within the role. As a Business Intelligence Consultant, you will often work closely with the analytics team to ensure the business and technical architecture of the delivered solutions matches the business requirements for continued experimentation to develop the analytics.
